About our school
Holroyd School is a School for Specific Purpose (SSP) that operates in the context of a large and strong public education system. Its specific purpose is to provide quality education for students with disability and co-occurring disabilities from kindergarten to year 12.
Our community's vision for the school is for a safe and supportive environment in which collective effort paves the way for an empowering educational journey with endless possibilities. Accountability, Safety, Partnerships, Independence, Respect and Empowerment are the set of shared values that guide us in our work toward the vision.
At our school:
- We embrace the unique interests, strengths and personalities of every student and optimise educational outcomes through practices embedded in evidence-based methodologies, tailored to meet their dynamic, diverse, and complex needs.
- We universalise for consistency and predictability, and we personalise to meet individual need - just one example of our dialectical approach.
- We maintain a relentless focus on safety, recognising the inseparable connection between learning and wellbeing.
- We build respectful partnerships with students, parents and carers, and other stakeholders.
- We provide intensive support for all students, and more support when they need it.
- We explicitly teach communication, independence, life skills and social skills.
We are committed to our core business, teaching and learning and to empowering our students with the skills to thrive at school, and beyond.
